Queen Charlotte Armories and Sacred Heart Home Boardwalk

Completed over a two year span, the Queen Charlotte Armories and Sacred Heart Home Boardwalks were the first boardwalks to be completed in the City of Charlottetown. Phase I of the project included some much needed repairs to the steel sea wall that runs along the shore in this area. Along with the sea wall repairs, the first section of boardwalk was installed behind the Queen Charlotte Armories. Phase II of the project, completed in 1991; saw the installation of a new sandstone sea wall behind the Sacred Heart Home (the Culinary Institute) and the extension of the board walk to wrap around the Sacred Heart Home building. This boardwalk project was the first of many to come in an effort to have a pedestrian walking trail along the entire Charlottetown waterfront. This first section of the board walk is .56 km long.
